Evening Grosbeak

Overview

Evening Grosbeaks adult male Evening Grosbeak are yellow and black birds with a prominent white patch in the wings. They have dark heads with a bright yellow stripe over the eye . females and immatures are mostly gray  with white-and-black wings and a greenish - yellow  tinge to the neck and flanks.   

Distribution

Evening Grosbeaks live across the boreal forest from Newfoundland to British Columbia and as far north up to the Yukon Territory 

Diet

Evening Grosbeaks eat sunflower seeds and are also attracted to berries and buds of trees and shrubs.  They really love buds from maple trees.
